Cheima and Joana from France were volunteers at Youth Center of Epirus for 6 months during the spring and summer of 2021. Their project was called "Take Off" and it was coordinated by French organisation Pistes Solidaires. Main tasks of Cheima and Joana included work on socially engaging and cultural online content creation for organisation's website and social media, as well as leading of non formal educational activities for unaccompanied asylum seeker minors at Agios Athanasios accommodation facility. Their project was supported by the European Commission and is under the European Solidarity Corps programme.
Specifically, Cheima created an objective article about historic and cultural conflict and current situation between Greece and Turkey. Joana published short series of woman empowering articles about female entrepreneurs in our community. Both articles are beautifully visual and published on The Wall of Voices / τ΄ΗΧΟΣ.
Within the accommodation facility of unaccompanied minors framework, they were involved in planning, preparation, implementation and reporting of non-formal educational activities. The themes and types of activities were: group sports, various games in teams, treasure hunt, walks in the city, crafting, gardening and planting, cooking, artistic activities and games of discovering multiculturality.
This project was co-funded by the European Commission.
